Ellen Brightens My Day!

I am such a fan of Ellen Degeneres! She always manages to make me laugh. Today she had audience members play a Japanese TV Game Show - The Marshmallow Game. I seriously laughed so damn hard it hurt. Check it out! http://ellen.warnerbros.com/2008/01/careful_your_face_may_stick_th.php

Getting Creative Again!

I have, all of a sudden, started getting creative again. I went to a stamp camp last week, made several b-day cards this week and even completed a creative challenge from one of my favorite art blogs. I have a blog site where I post my artwork, but cannot get into it. So I may have to start posting here as well.....or set up a new site.

The weather sucks....it's 2 degrees! Woohoo...a heat wave! But at least I have my greenhouse. Yesterday, despite the frigid temps, it was a delightful 112 degrees. It really didn't feel that hot since most of the really hot air was at the top of the greenhouse and the cooler air was on the floor. I spent several hours working on making it comfy. I bought a couple of huge plants, planted some sunflowers with Scotty (we will see if they grow well) and am trying to nurse a few fledgling plants back to health. I put an Adirondack chair in there and try to spend some time on the sunny days reading (or napping). It's kind of my little magical place that defies the reality of winter in Indiana.

The Art of Planning!

I am sooooo excited! Kathy R. discovered that we share the same week for Spring Break! So the boys and I are going to visit the Riddles! I am already making mental plans....request time off, best travel routes, how to fill ten and a half hours for the kids w/o having to leave them at a rest stop.....etc! I am thrilled to be able to spend a whole week with my favorite crack-ho! My dad may also come along and spend the week with my brother who lives about 30 minutes away from Kathy. That would be such fun to share our travels with my dad! He is a blast!

Kathy.....get the guest room ready! Stock up on wine, coffee and snackage! lol Greg may not survive this visit! Has he considered moving into a hotel for the week? ;-)

Alex & Scott Potter

Alex, Scott and I had a great day yesterday! I recovered from yet another "week" of work after sleeping most of Wednesday and decided we ALL deserved a treat. The three of us headed to the NEW McD's for lunch and then went to Simply Pottery to be creative. The boys each chose an item which really seemed to suit their personality.....Scott painted a puppy and Alex painted a skateboard. Mom drank Starbuck's! We'll have to wait a week for the end results, but they looked great when the boys had finished up with them. We then headed off to Target to roam the toy section. Believe it or not, those boys STILL have gift cards left to spend!

An Odd Intro To 2008

I can honestly say I had the least exciting New Year's Eve ever....almost. I had to work and had planned to do our truck-check at work with my partner then come over to my house for dinner and games with the kids until we had to take a run. That didn't work out as planned. We had to take a run up to Indy and didn't get back into town until after 11:00pm. By the time we got to my house the kids were fast asleep on the sofa and living room floor. Paul heated up dinner for us and 20 minutes into the visit we had to run out again. The rest of the night was a blur of drunken idiots, juvenile delinquents and a bar fight. I managed to smash both hands under the cot....not quite sure how I managed that. Needless to say, I am glad the holidays are over. I am looking forward to my few days off before I start back into the crazy nightlife of EMS. There are some nights I wonder, "what the hell was I thinking." And then there are others that make me LOVE what I do. Thank goodness for those nights! I'm not sure what I would do if I didn't have such a great partner/mentor! Every new'ish EMT should be so fortunate! Thanks Scott G.!!!!!!!!!!
